2020 continues to throw us curveballs, and we continue to adjust the ways we can serve our community together.
This year we brainstormed the idea for a new, safe, socially-distanced Tailgate Purse Bingo event. We hoped to give our bingo ‘regulars’ an event to enjoy, held outside and with the pre-approval of the Hancock County Health Dept, while also raising crucial funds to support the over 60% growth in clients we have experienced this year.
We regret to report we have cancelled this weekend’s Tailgate Purse Bingo.
Our bingo events, held twice a year, have always enjoyed strong attendance — they usually sell out within 24 hours! Unfortunately, despite keeping ticket sales open for several weeks, we were unable to sell enough to break-even on the event. Although Meals on Wheels made every attempt to plan a safe, outdoor event, we understand many may not want to gather publicly at this time.
Many nonprofits are struggling in 2020 without the ability to hold large, profitable fundraising events. In light of this change in the way we fund our organization, and the quickly growing demand for meals in our county, we are asking YOU for your support.
As opposed to attending our event, would you consider a donation to our organization?
Could you spare the $35 ticket cost so we can apply the funds to feed a low-income or high-risk neighbor in our community during the pandemic?
With the loss of our two largest fundraisers this year, we appreciate any and all support we receive. We’re offering full refunds for those who paid for bingo tickets, and also encourage any donation to our organization possible.

P.S. We're participating in #GivingTuesday2020 on Dec. 1, which features Facebook matching funds and online donating. We'll keep posted on our plans!
