Is there a waiting list?

Not typically, although please call for availability in your specific location. It takes a week to a week-and-a-half to complete an application and get meals started.

Can I just get the hot meal (or cold meal)?
Yes, you can designate if you want both hot or cold, or either..

What is the cost?
$7.50 per day (2 meals - hot and cold)*

*subsidies are available based on monthly income

My income is low. Is there financial assistance available?
Yes, we have financial assistance available on a sliding scale. Please contact our office for specific reductions based on your income.

Do you take Food Stamps?

How long am I required to stay on the program?
The only requirement is clients must stay on our service for at least 10 business days and a minimum of two days per week. Clients who cancel service before that time will be charged for any remaining days.

What time will I receive my food?

Depending upon your location within Hancock County, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

I can’t get up to answer my door, how will I let the volunteers in to delivery?
We have detailed instructions for the volunteers. You can specify a door that you will leave unlocked and we will direct volunteers to knock and enter that door. They can even help you with opening containers if you require assistance.

What if I am going to be away from home during delivery time?
You may cancel a meal and receive a credit if you call by noon the previous business day or you can leave a cooler by the door and the volunteer will place your meal in the cooler so that it will be available for you when you return.

What if I don’t like one of the meals I receive?
Let the office know what item you do not care for and we will substitute an alternative in the future.

How are the payment arrangements made?
Bills are sent on a monthly basis. Please mail a check to the Meals on Wheels office or pay online using our website. Do not give payment to delivery volunteers. You can also pay online by clicking 'Make a Payment' on the sidebar of this page.
